ABOUT US

About Us

The idea and efforts to establish the Society of Nigerian Broadcasters (SNB) is dated back in 1962 by late Ambassador Segun Olushola. By 1978, it was handed over to Mr. Yemi Farounbi now Ambassador Yemi Farounbi. The Society was duly registered with the Corporate Affairs Commission on 3rd of March, 1994 with Head Quarters at NTA, Victoria Island, Lagos.

    February 13, 2024 00The Society of Nigerian Broadcasters, SNB, has replied Ekiti State Council of Nigeria Union of Journalists on allegation that SNB is illegal body coercing its members to join the professional body, which is trending on internet. According to the organization in a statement signed by its Executive Secretary, Dr. Yemisi Bamgbose, in the said publication, it was reported that the Council referred to Society of Nigerian Broadcasters as an “illegal body coercing its members to join the professional body”. Our Objectives

Monitoring

Monitoring and controlling the conduct of the practice of broadcasting profession.

Advocacy

To serve as advocacy body for the industry among others.

Examination

Conducting examinations in the profession and awarding certificates or diplomas to successful candidates as and when appropriate.

Standard of knowledge

Prescribing, determining and setting the standard of knowledge and skills.

Registration

Formal admission, certification and registration of persons seeking to become broadcasting practitioners.

To be conferred only by SNB in Conjunction with BON.

Full Member

Minimum of 10 years post qualification experience in Broadcasting/Lecturing in Communications related courses.

Associate Member

Minimum of 5 years post qualification experience in Broadcasting/Lecturing in Communications related courses.

Student Member

Minimum of 5 years post qualification experience in Broadcasting/Lecturing in Communications related courses.
